The hidden pickup tax

DoorDash and Uber Eats charge 6% even on pickup orders you fulfill yourself. A $5 latte can cost the customer $8+ after platform markup. They blame your shop.

Brand damage they don’t show you: DoorDash and Uber Eats mark up customer-facing prices. A $5 latte becomes $8+. The customer blames your shop.

Why is it free?

Moonrise is building a density network for mobile food. Food trucks move. Customers need to find them. That problem only gets solved with enough trucks on the map in enough cities.

Pioneer pricing is our thank-you for building that density with us. You’re not the product. You’re not subsidizing someone else’s VC burn rate. You’re the reason the network exists.

When the network grows, future tiers will offer premium features at fair prices. Early merchants get the best deal we’ll ever offer. That’s the pitch. No asterisks.

Answers

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free? What’s the catch?

No catch. Pioneer merchants pay $0 monthly, 0% commission, and $0 setup. Run in indie mode and there are zero costs, period. If you connect Square, their standard processing fee applies — but that’s between you and Square. We don’t touch your revenue.

How long does Pioneer pricing last?

Pioneer pricing is available during our launch period while we build density. Early merchants who join now get the best rates we’ll ever offer. We’ll always give plenty of notice before any changes.

Do I need a Square account?

No. That’s the whole point. Moonrise has a full indie mode — no POS, no hardware, no integrations. Just your phone, your menu, and your customers. Go fully independent. If you already use Square and want to connect it, great — we integrate with it. But it’s entirely optional.

What happens to tips?

100% of tips go directly to your staff. Moonrise never takes a cut of gratuity. Tips land in your account — we don’t skim, ever.

How fast is onboarding?

About 30 minutes. AI Menu Scan imports your menu from a photo. Set your location, and you’re live. Some merchants are taking orders in under 15 minutes.

What if I don’t have a fixed location?

Moonrise was built for mobile merchants. Landings GPS lets you set zones, Moonwalk alerts customers when you’re nearby, and the real-time map shows exactly where you are. Food trucks are first-class citizens here.
