Catering Cancellation and Refund Policy
Contents
This policy applies to catering bookings that customers make through the Moonrise app with a food truck (a "Truck"). The Truck is the seller and your caterer; Moonrise lists Trucks, takes your booking and arranges payment on the Truck's behalf. It summarizes Section 6A of the Terms of Use for customers and Section 7A of the Terms for merchants, which govern if anything differs. It does not apply to pickup orders.
When You Are Charged
Nothing is charged until the Truck accepts your request. When the Truck accepts, your saved card is charged a deposit equal to the greater of 25% of the total (food, travel and sales tax) or $125. If the event is fewer than nine days away, the full amount is charged at acceptance. Otherwise the balance is charged to the same card seven days before the event. Moonrise's platform fee on a catering booking is 10% of the Truck's price; see catering pricing.
If You Cancel
- Until the cancellation deadline shown in the app for your booking: you may cancel free of charge.
- After the deadline: the Truck keeps the deposit, the sales tax portion of the deposit is refunded to you, and any balance already charged is refunded to you in full.
If the Truck Cancels
If the Truck cancels, you receive a full refund.
How Refunds Are Paid
Refunds are returned to the card you paid with. They are issued on the Truck's connected Stripe account, and a refund stays pending until it can be paid if the Truck's balance is too low to cover it.
Problems With Your Event
If something goes wrong, report it through the app within 7 days of the event. Moonrise will mediate between you and the Truck, and the Truck's payout is held while your report is open. Moonrise decides whether you receive a full refund, a partial refund or none, and any refund decided in mediation is paid from the Truck's balance.
